The Black Summit will be held April 26-28, 2012 (Thursday - Saturday). Friday will feature a major reception followed by a banquet with a nationally-known speaker. Saturday includes a Prayer Breakfast focused on faith-based issues relevant to The Alliance’s core commitments. The prayer breakfast emphasizes the leveraging of faith-based assets to address socioeconomic conditions in our community.
The Summit generally includes a pre-conference workshop that focuses on current issues having immediate impact on citizens of color in the state.
The Summit includes breakout sessions focused upon the identified key issues where attendees engage in an interactive dialogue that will help define The foundation for future Alliance initiatives. As The Alliance sharpens its focus, based upon the collective knowledge shared over the past 6 years, we envision continued movement toward a cooperative agenda and commitment to information sharing and clear communication that engages our full network of elected officials, partners and advocates in the empowerment of our communities.
Average attendance is between 250 and 300 participants. We believe this Summit helps create an educated electorate positioned to be positive players in the economic and political life of North Carolina. We hope to provide education and training to the next generation of African American leadership and to provide a vehicle for those who seek to support the charge of establishing positive role models in all walks of life, particularly public service. |
